Racing

Known as "the sport of kings," horseracing as we know it today was first popularized by European nobility in the 16th Century. Racing has been going on much longer than that, though. Chariot racing was enormously popular in the Roman Empire, and since that time human beings have been racing horses against each other in some form or another in almost every culture where horses play an important role. Today, horseracing is the second most popular spectator sport in America.
