Ponies
Although the "official" definition of a pony is a horse measuring 14.2 hands or less, true ponies also have other distinguishing pony characteristics. Pony breeds have proportionally short legs compared to the depth of their bodies, short heads and necks, and compact bodies. Many breeds also have characteristically thick manes, tails, and winter coats. And because so many of them evolved in wild, harsh climates, ponies have a reputation for being considerably more resilient than their taller cousins.
